Museu da Imagem e do Som

as i was walking along the beach today, i noticed this:

and then i remembered the rendered drawings of the new Museum of Images and Sound that i had read about:

the establishment that was here prior, was a dated & dingy disco-club called "help!" that was an extreme eye-sore to the beachfront atlantica avenue. the new museum is designed by Diller Scofidio + Renfro and i think it will be amazing. they are saying it could be ready by the middle of 2013, but let's not kid ourselves, this is rio and things are always delayed.

things to do on the beach, besides swim

after a few days of a "cold" spell (mind you, i am from minnesota) the sun was back out this saturday. i took a stroll along copacabana beach to see what everyone was up to.

i was fascinated by his hat. the man told me he is from the amazon, i am guessing from the peruvian part. he said there they sell these hats for R$60 (US$30) but here in rio the going rate is R$8.

fashion rio is stage-front for the world of fashion weeks. it seems only deserving that relaxed, breezy, beachy rio kicks off summer fashion for 2013, but hoje em dia, the carioca designers are bringing a level of sophistication to their collections via materials & silhouettes and I am liking it!
